HYDRAULIC FORK EXTENSIONS

Oversized forks often cause damage, in turn incurring unnecessary costs. Forks are slightly longer than the pallets and protrude at the rear. The forklift truck driver does not notice that the tips of the forks have punctured the goods to the rear when placing the foremost pallet. Has your organization ever taken an inventory of the costs associated with the damage caused by oversized forks? Customers do not accept such damage, and associated costs – as summarized below – can rarely be compensated.  more...

New ANSI Standard

New ANSI Standard to Prevent Accidental Unclamping

Effective for lift trucks shipping on or after October 7, 2010 a new safety standard states that all lift trucks with a load bearing clamp (paper roll clamp, carton clamp, etc.) must require two distinct motions on the part of the driver before opening or releasing the clamp. For example, you must press a button and then move a lever to unclamp the load. This requirement applies to new and used attachments being mounted on new trucks shipping after the effective date above.

Section 7.25.7 of ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift trucks states: The manual operation or physical action of the control used to release a load bearing clamp shall require two distinct motions or operations by the operator before the clamp is opened and the load bearing force is released. For example move the lever or handle to the left (or right) and then forward (or down), or, depress a button on the lever or handle and then move the lever or handle forward (or down).

‘Tis the season to be joyous- but also to be SAFE!

‘Tis the season to be joyous- but also to be SAFE!

As the holidays get closer, more and more companies are receiving delivery of new stock for the holiday season. This means that new forklift drivers are getting hired almost everyday by companies wanting to move products to fill customer orders. Unfortunately the increase in workload can lead to a disproportionate increase in accidents involving forklift operators, and managers need to make sure their drivers are properly trained and certified. At Hyundai Forklift of Southern California, we offer forklift safety training and can help you take care of this important issue. So let’s get our forklift drivers safety trained and reduce the chances of accidents happening, and remember the holidays may still be a few months away but safe employees are good year-round.

Five Stage Mast

Lift Technologies (USA) has just launched a new line of Compact Five Stage masts which has a unique compact mast rail configuration offering very good visibility, yet the mast can be configured for lift heights up to 331", with a collapsed height of 90". The cylinders and chains are nested behind the mast rails which provide a clear visibility window for the operator when placing and retrieving loads.

The new Five Stage mast can be equipped with an 8 roller integral carpet pole carriage for use in carpet and associated industries where load lengths can exceed 12’. The mast can also be ordered with a standard hook style carriage for applications where forks are required.

A unique feature about the design of Lift Technologies’ new Five Stage mast is that it can be mounted on 6500, 7000 or 8000 lb. capacity lift trucks. Mast capacity ranges from 2750 lb. at a 72" load center which increases to 5000 lb. at a 24" load center. The compact rail stack design improves the lost load center significantly over traditional 5 stage mast designs, and also offers a reduction in weight compared to earlier versions.

Find out how you can have one of these five stage masts installed on your new Hyundai Forklift,  Contact Hyundai Forklift of Southern California
